Verified Account FAQs

The blue verified badge on Metside lets people know that an account of public interest is authentic.

The badge appears next to the name on an account’s profile and next to the account name in search results. It is always the same color and placed in the same location, regardless of profile or theme color customizations.

Accounts that don’t have the badge next to their name but that display it somewhere else, for example in the profile photo, header photo, or bio, are not verified accounts.

Verified badges must be applied by Metside, and accounts that use a badge as a part of profile photos, background photos, or in any other way that implies verified status, are subject to permanent account suspension.

What types of accounts get verified?

An account may be verified if it is determined to be an account of public interest. Typically this includes accounts maintained by users in music, acting, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.

A verified badge does not imply an endorsement by Metside.

What is a verified badge on Metside?

A verified badge is a check that appears next to an Metside account's name in search and on the profile. It means Metside has confirmed that an account is the authentic presence of the public figure, celebrity or global brand it represents.

How do I request a verified badge for my Metside profile?

To request a verified badge, you must be a public figure, celebrity or brand and meet certain account and eligibility requirements.

If your account represents a person, you’ll need a copy of your official government-issued photo identification (example: passport, driver's license, national identification card) to validate your request. If your account represents an organization, you’ll need a copy of a phone or utility bill, a certificate of formation, articles of incorporation, or tax exemption documents. Please also include a few sentences explaining why the account should receive the verified badge, and relevant URLs that help illustrate the account's notability.

What are the requirements to apply for a verified badge on Metside?

We look at a number of factors when evaluating Metside accounts to determine if they're in the public interest and meet our verification criteria.

In addition to following Metside’s terms of service, your account also needs to be:

  • Authentic: Your account must represent a real person, registered business or entity.
  • Unique: Your account must be the unique presence of the person or business it represents. Only one account per person or business may be verified, with exceptions for language-specific accounts. We don't verify general interest accounts (example: Puppy Memes).
  • Complete: Your account must be active and have an about section, profile photo and at least one post.
  • Notable: Your account must represent a well-known, often searched person, brand or entity. We review accounts that are featured in multiple news sources, and we don't consider paid or promotional content as sources for review.

Keep in mind that if you provide false or misleading information during the verification process, we will remove your verified badge and may take additional action to delete your account.

If your account doesn't meet the criteria for a verified badge, there are other ways to let people know it's authentic. For example, you can link to it from an official website, Instagram profile or Twitter account.

What happens after I apply for a verified badge on Metside?

Metside will never request payment for verification or reach out to ask you to confirm your verification.

Once we review your request, you'll receive a notification letting you know if your account has been verified or not. If your request is denied, you can submit a new request after 30 days.

Keep in mind that Metside can remove verified badges at any time, and may take away your badge or disable your account if you:

  • Advertise, transfer or sell your verified badge.
  • Use your profile picture, bio or name section to promote other services.
  • Attempt to verify your account through a third party.

If your account doesn't have a verified badge, there are other ways to let people know you're authentic. For example, you can link to your Metside account from your official website, Facebook Page, YouTube or Twitter account.

Can I buy a verified badge?

Never engage with anyone offering to sell you a verified badge. We don't sell verified badges, and any accounts found doing so will have their badges removed.

We also reserve the right to remove the verified badge from accounts at our discretion.
